課程概述

This course is focusing on the numerical modeling of optoelectronic devices: The topics we will include is:
1. Introduction of Poisson, drift-diffusion equations and the applications for semiconductor transport. The numerical approach for solving of Non-linear Poisson and Drift-diffusion solver: The Gummel Iteration Method.
2. Introduction of numerical analysis for partial differential equations
3. Developing the numerical solver for studying the current-voltage behavior of pn diode LED, photo-detector, and Solar cell.
4. Use of simulation tool.
5. Semiconductor crystal material and their band structure. (Numerical methods introduced: tight binding method (TBM), k.p method (k.p)
6. Application of the semiconductor band structure model for analyzing new material system such as graphene, nanowire structures.
7. Introduction of light propagation simulation: FD-TD method 

課程目標
Understand the current bottleneck of optoelectronic devices and learn how to analyze these problems by a numerical approach. We will discuss the current device problem and how to approach these topics listed in outlines listed above. 
課程要求
Understanding basic Semiconductor Physics:
(Solid state electronics, modern physics, nano-photonnics or semiconductor optics)
familiar with at least one computer language
(Fortran, c/c++, matlab, mathematica ...)
